Sonatrach issued the following announcement on Dec. 6.

The National Hydrocarbons Company, SONATRACH, has granted nearly 800 million dinars in donations for the fight against the spread of Covid-19 in Algeria, since the start of the pandemic last March, has he – we learned Sunday from the Public Group.

These donations were granted to various health infrastructures across the country, in particular in the form of medical equipment for the benefit of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria, the Central Pharmacy of Hospitals (PCH) and hospitals.

In addition, SONATRACH workers have voluntarily contributed 530 million dinars in donations paid for the benefit of the solidarity account intended to receive donations and support contributions to the national effort to fight the Covid pandemic. -19.

The public group has also provided several wilayas of the country, especially in the South, with nearly 400,000 protective masks, nearly 5,500 liters of hydro-alcoholic gel and large quantities of disinfectants for an amount of more than 44 million DA .

The public group also financed the acquisition for the benefit of PCH of medical equipment for an amount of more than 114 million DA.

Also as part of its program to fight the spread of the pandemic, SONATRACH also helped the laboratories of the Houari Boumediene University of Sciences and Technologies in Algiers for the acquisition of products used for the manufacture of antiseptic products. .

Contacted by APS, Mounir SAKHRI, Director of Communication within the National Hydrocarbons Company, indicated that “SONATRACH has included this fight as a priority in order to preserve, first, the health of its workers, then in order to to keep our production facilities in operation and, thus, effectively contribute to the efforts made by the public authorities and the country’s health services to fight against the spread of Covid-19 ”.

“The social responsibility of SONATRACH is a social policy aimed at supporting and promoting the sporting, cultural and social fields”, recalled Mr. SAKHRI, explaining that the objective is to strengthen societal links in a sustainable framework. The other objective, he said, is to support the country’s economic development policy.

According to him, SONATRACH will continue to support and promote the various components of society within the framework of public authority policy “because it makes social responsibility a priority within the framework of a sustainable strategy”.

In addition, Mr. SAKHRI indicated that the company carries out a systematic screening of its employees and supports the follow-up of positive cases.

“These measures are intended to preserve the health of SONATRACH workers but also to maintain the productivity of all the company’s facilities”, he stressed, adding that this is allowed by the establishment of ” a health protocol designed by the company and validated by the country’s health authorities (APS)
