Public Establishment of Television issued the following announcement on July 27.

The Supreme Council of the Judiciary, the community, approved on Thursday its first regular session the appointment of 181 judges and the promotion of 1882 others, according to a statement of the Council.
The meeting, chaired by Tayeb Loh, is chaired by Minister of Justice Hafez al-Akhtam, Vice-President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution and in accordance with the Organic Law, which includes the Basic Law of the Judiciary and the Organic Law.
Following the adoption of the agenda of the current session, in accordance with rule 45 of the rules of procedure of the Council, which contains issues relating to the professional career of the judges, the Commission examined and approved a number of points of “approving the appointment of 181 judges in accordance with article 30 of the Basic Law on the Judiciary”.
“The list of 1882 judges, including 100 judges, has been approved as part of the incentives for workers in the south, and judges have benefited from job promotions based on the criteria set forth in the Basic Law on the Judiciary.”
The session also included “the ratification of the project of the movement of judges submitted by the permanent office in accordance with the provisions and standards contained in the Basic Law of the Judiciary, as well as reviewing and enriching the draft amendment of the code of ethics of the judges provided for in article 34 of the organic law concerning the formation of the Supreme Judicial Council and its functions and powers.”
In the same framework, the Board examined and adjudicated various other matters relating to the professional conduct of judges.
At the conclusion of his work, “the Supreme Council of Justice noted the pivotal and fundamental role of the judiciary in building the rule of law and extending its prestige and authority, in accordance with the powers vested in it constitutionally.”
He also thanked the judges for “all the efforts made during the past judicial year, within the framework of their constitutional duties, and wished them success in their noble duties to serve the judiciary and the homeland.”
