According to the Secretary General of the National Liberation Front Party Gamal Ould Abbas, the appointment of the Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally Ahmed Ouyahia to the position of first minister has not been a daunting change for the Avalans.

The National Liberation Front Party is said to not be challenged by the new leadership of Ouyahia.

Abbas stated that the president made the decision concerning the appointment and went on to say the leadership under him is supportive of the decision.

Additionally, it has been made public that the president will not affect the elections and that anyone who qualifies is welcome to run for the position.
