Middle East and North Africa OTT TV episodes and movies are expected to bring in $1.75 billion by 2022, which will more than quadruple its $428 million revenue from 2016.

Digital TV Research expects 17.27 million SVOD homes by 2022 and Turkey will continue to be the leader. By 2022, 39 percent of SVOD subscribers will be from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Icflix, Starz Play, Iflix and Shahid Plus.

Netflix is expected to have 3.26 million subscribers by 2022, Icflix will have more than 2 million by 2022, and Starz will increase by 1.6 million.

“SVOD platforms can gain considerable economies of scale by signing distribution deals with mobile operators,” Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, said. “Deals between mobile operators and SVOD platforms are already prevalent in the Middle East and North Africa – offering an example for the rest of the world to follow.”
