Morocco’s Technopolis of Salé Campus of the International University of Rabat hosted the first forum for local government officials and managers of training institutions from Sept. 18-20.
The theme of the forum was “Human Resources in African Local Government: The Time to Act is Now!”
The event was sponsored by United Cities and Local Governments of Africa and the African Local Government Academy. Over 400 individuals participated in the event from 58 countries.
The main discussion points were the place of human capital in the new geopolitical context of decentralization in Africa; networking of local government senior staff, as well as peer learning; and promotion of quality education, training and capacity building targeting local administration in government.
