Chifco, a promising start up in Tunisia, has been working to leverage the power of the Internet of Things, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence principles, since 2011.

Now, the company seems poised to move into a new initiative in the transportation industry.

“For the first time in Tunisia, connected buses will see the light of day thanks to a partnership between Chifco, the Tunisian National Society of Interurban Transport, and Tunisie Telecom, one of the giants of Telecom in Tunisia,” Chifco Business and Strategy Analyst Sarah Nefzaoui told Maghreb News Wire on Nov. 10.

Nefzaoui said the project is due to be implemented in 2018 in Tunisia, and later in the neighboring country of Algeria with local telecom operator Djezzy helping to support the project.

“Connected Buses will offer free Wifi to passengers, thus allowing them to surf the web, listen to music, and even watch movies while taking the bus,” Nefzaoui said. “The project will be implemented in 2018 in Tunisia, then in Algeria with Djezzy the telecom operator as a partner.

The connected bus program is not the only Chifco project that is based on very modern changes in how we view computer programming. The company’s talent has built machine learning algorithms, and applied them to home automation products and services, as well as GPS tracking solutions. The company also works in the field of predictive business intelligence, offering clients tools to analyze return on investment, enhance marketing and sales, and perform better customer service.

“Businesses are now able to turn data into better decision-making capabilities,” Nefzaoui said.

All of it, she said, is an attempt to enhance quality of life using new technologies.

“Chifco’s goal is to make people’s life easier and smarter thanks to connected things, Big Data, Machine Learning and Business Intelligence,” Nefzaoui said. “These technologies can lead to huge transformations in behaviors and uses. On this basis, our startup adapted its offer to the needs of the users.”
