The governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Sadiq Omar Al-Kabeer, met with the Higher Committee at the Bank of Tripoli to discuss the project for electronic payment via mobile phone.

The meeting was meant to discuss the task forces the Higher Committee formed for the project and their progress in terms of technical tasks which have been completed.
There is a professional team that is working through the details associated with legislation and regulation for the mobile sales process.

The Central Bank of Libya has confirmed that it is committed to the launch date previously set for mid-August for pilot services, followed by a September launch date for the electronic payment services, which will give Libyan citizens the opportunity to pay for shopping done with no actual cash needed in hand.
