The government of Algeria has reported that between January and September 2017 there have been 93 cases of death and an overall 1,816 cases from carbon monoxide poisoning. 

This is an increase in intervention by 53.37 percent.

Almost 14 percent of the cases were caused by air retained in the walls and 4.3 percent were caused by bottlenecks, with 9.6 percent being caused by natural gas and 72.4 being caused by natural and carbon gas.

The Directorate General of Civil Protection Col. Farouk Ashour said more than 250 people die every year from carbon monoxide poisoning.

He warned individuals to be careful and protect themselves from deadly incidents by watching for leaks in heating devices, including water heaters, cooking equipment and cares.
