Banque Populaire du Maroc issued the following announcement on Feb. 14.

After having featured sculpture in an exhibition that has just passed, the walls of the Galerie Banque Populaire in Rabat shelter, from February 13 to April 6, 2019, the works of a young, talented and atypical artist: Mohamed EL BELLAOUI, aka Rebel Spirit, as part of an exciting exhibition entitled “A poet in the city”.

In keeping with its eclectic approach of promoting all artistic expressions, the Galerie Banque Populaire welcomes, as a result of “La sculpture en partage”, a new exhibition which, for its part, highlights Street Art or urban art. through works by Rebel Spirit, one of the Moroccan singers of this artistic movement born in the United States about five decades ago.

A multidisciplinary artist born in Casablanca thirty years ago, Rebel Spirit has been practicing urban art since childhood, trying with incredible success to different techniques of this discipline (airbrush painting, stencil, collage and tape art). The large-format and colorful portraits to which the public is entitled to the Banque Populaire Gallery are often inspired by his childhood memories.

To immerse yourself in it is not only the promise of an even richer reading of its plastic work but also the promise of an appointment. you with a major work, “commented Mr. Jalil SEBTI, Chairman of the Management Board of Banque Populaire Rabat-Kenitra.

This exhibition is also part of the “Rabat invite” cycle, which consists of opening up to artists outside the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region. This new concept was inaugurated nearly a year ago by “The Musicians of Dibaji”, an exhibition of the artist Abdellah DIBAJI, native of Azemmour.

Inaugurated in January 2017, the Banque Populaire de Rabat Gallery’s primary mission is to make a significant contribution to the cultural dynamics of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region. “A poet in the city” is the seventh exhibition she has been hosting since it opened to the public.
