Abdul Latif Al-Jawahri, governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, has been named best bank governor in the world by magazine Global Finance.

A ceremony was held at the National Press Club while the International Monetary Fund and World Bank held annual meetings in Washington, D.C.

Central bank governors from 83 countries were ranked with an A for excellence. Al-Jawahiri is one of a few from the Middle East and North Africa to achieve this ranking this year. The ranking also covers performance based on economic growth and monetary stability.

Global Finance has issued a rankings report every year since 1994. A is the best ranking, with F being the worst.
