Algeria’s imports of cars have declined in the first half of 2017 by 71 percent in value and 78 percent in quantity, according to the Directorate of Customs.
There have been 7,787 tourist cars imported in comparison to 35,571 in the first half of 2016, which is a 78.11 percent decline. No import license was given this year. The first half of 2017 has seen a $540 million invoice for installing vehicles on the local scale, compared to $268 million in the first half of 2016.
The import operations have doubled in value and quantity in the first half of 2017.
The import bill for individuals, goods and assemblies, which totaled $379 million in the first half of 2016, has fallen to $240 million in the first half of 2017, a 37 percent decline.
