SONATRACH's recent social responsibility operations are part of a global and lasting action of the societal commitment of the national hydrocarbon company, said Wednesday in Algiers, the communications director of SONATRACH, Mounir SAKHRI.

In a statement to the APS, Mr. SAKHRI returned to the donations offered, as part of the start of the school year for the current year, to students enrolled in gray areas, specifying that this operation is part of a global support framework for education, health, but also culture, sport and the protection of heritage.

“As a pilot operation, the SONATRACH Group acquired 500 tablets for the benefit of the Ministry of National Education intended for schools in remote areas called shadow zones”, recalled the same official.

“In this context, the SONATRACH group offered 500 tablets and several computer equipment for the benefit of the Ministry of National Education in order to equip the pilot schools designated by the supervisory authority at the level of gray areas”, recalled the representative. by SONATRACH.

Through this pilot operation, the pupils of the targeted schools will benefit from modern means making it easier for them to follow their lessons and making it possible to lighten their school bags, he said.

“This is a pilot operation launched by the Ministry of National Education, and SONATRACH has responded as is always the case for other major national causes”, said Mr. SAKHRI.

As a result of its policy of solidarity with gray areas, the public group has also installed solar water heaters and equipped computer rooms with connection to the Internet network in several schools in the municipalities. from Debdab to Illizi (5 primary, 3 secondary and one high school) and Oum Tiour to El Oued (2 primary and one secondary).

“The CEO of SONATRACH, Toufik Hakkar, gave clear directions so that the social responsibility of the company is done through tangible actions”, he indicated, adding that “the support provided by SONATRACH at the level of different sectors of society is continuous. It is not momentary or seasonal ”.

He thus recalled the many donations of SONATRACH made since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic to several national health establishments of disinfection products and protection against the spread of the coronavirus. (APS)
