Sonatrach issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.

A monitoring committee dedicated to issues related to industrial and regulatory compliance within the national hydrocarbons company SONATRACH has been set up by the group's CEO, Mr. Toufik Hakkar, a statement from SONATRACH said on Tuesday.

“As part of dealing with the issue of encroachment on the protection perimeters of SONATRACH's hydrocarbon installations and structures, the company's Chairman and CEO proceeded, Monday, September 28, to the installation of a Monitoring Committee dedicated to issues related to regulatory compliance ”reads the press release.

The mission of this Committee will be to establish an inventory of the situation and supervise the implementation of action plans intended to limit the risks for residents and the protection of the company's facilities against the risks induced by encroachments, specifies the same source.

This action comes within the framework of the “reinforcement of the measures of protection and control of the major risks” associated with the industrial activities of SONATRACH, concluded the press release. (APS)
