Sonatrach issued the following announcement on July 16.

The national company SONATRACH made, Thursday in Algiers, a donation of medical equipment for the benefit of the Central Hospital Pharmacy (PCH), as a contribution to the fight against the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

The donation ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Abderrahmane Benbouzid and the Minister of Energy, Abdelmadjid Attar, as well as the CEO of SONATRACH, Toufik Hakkar and the Director General of the PCH, Fatima Ouakti.

On this occasion, the Minister of Energy affirmed that SONATRACH, a “citizen society”, is, as usual, “always present during the difficult times that the country is going through and here it is, today, taking the lead. initiative, in this situation marked by the spread of the new coronavirus, to donate artificial respirators and other medical equipment for the benefit of the PCH which, in turn, will distribute them to hospitals that need them ”.

He also emphasized the importance of the health security of the country and the role of national solidarity, stressing the imperative to federate all energies to face this challenge, emphasizing the solidarity of SONATRACH with the health sector, the minister considered that the role of his sector was also to offer such aid, until the disappearance of this disease.

To this end, Mr. Attar praised the efforts of the medical profession, which is on the front line in the battle against Covid-19, calling for its protection, in order to allow it to fully discharge its missions in the field, for the preservation of the health of citizens.

For his part, Mr. Benbouzid welcomed this initiative and the support provided by other sectors to that of health including the energy represented by SONATRACH able to contribute to the strengthening of national capacities in the fight against covid-19..

In this regard, the minister recalled that Algeria, like all countries in the world, is fighting a “common enemy”, believing that the aid offered by the energy sector “is one of the best gifts. solidarity ”, which“ will further strengthen the health sector and improve the quality of patient care. ”(APS)
