Sonatrach recently issued the following announcement.
Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad inaugurated the production units of the Sidi Arcine refinery in Baraki (Algiers) on Monday after the completion of rehabilitation works in February 2019.
The inauguration, which coincides with the celebration of the double anniversary of the nationalization of hydrocarbons and the creation of the UGTA, was held in the presence of the Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of the Interior and local authorities. and spatial planning, Kamel Beldjoud, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Farouk Chiali, the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security Chawki Acheuk Youcef, as well as the CEO of the SONATRACH group , Toufik Hakkar.
With the commissioning of the new facilities, the capacity of the Algiers refinery will be increased from 2.7 million tonnes (Mt) to 3.645 Mt annually.
SONATRACH and the China petrole Engineering and Construction group (CPECC) signed in 2016 a 45 billion dinar contract to carry out the rehabilitation works of this refinery.
As a reminder, the Prime Minister, Abdelaziz Djerad presided in the morning, the ceremony of acquisition by SONATRACH of three LNG carriers at the level of the port of Algiers.
These are two (2) gas tankers (Hassi Touareg and Hassi Berkine) with a capacity of 13,000 m3 each and an oil tanker of 46,000 tonnes (In-Ecker). (APS)
