Somaca issued the following announcement on Sept. 4.
On June 28, the Renault Group inaugurated its new headquarters in Romania, called " Renault Bucharest Connected ", bringing together within the same building, a new design center as well as engineering and tertiary functions. To mark the occasion, the Renault Group unveiled a special edition of the Dacia Duster.
Launched at the initiative of the Couleurs et Matières du Design team, this creative operation aimed to promote the new Design Center, demonstrate the full potential of customizing Duster and present the vehicle in its most unbridled version.
DACIA DUSTER, A STYLIZED ICONIC MODEL
Duster has become one of the Group's flagship models, meeting worldwide success with more than 2.8 million units sold under the Renault and Dacia brands since the launch of the first generation in 2010. It is therefore logical that this Iconic SUV and one of the best-selling models of the Dacia brand, was chosen for this project. The idea was to use the values of robustness and escape of the vehicle to present it in a new light.
This is a series model on which Design teams have added a new bright yellow color, after-sales accessories and a graphic sticker. The all-terrain aspect is exacerbated by large, wide, notched wheels. The kit adventurer (side protections of doors and wideners of wings) reinforces its adventurer character. The new color highlights the athletic build of the vehicle and the graphic effect of the sticker gives it this fresh and energetic side.
SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
At the origin of the project: a whole phase of creativity implemented by the Couleurs et Matières team of the Renault Group's new Design Center in Romania, during which she wondered about the best way to mark the spirits and arouse envy. The creation of this Duster took six months, during which the team worked on a visual effect that was inspired by mud splashing on the bodywork. The name Stencil Duster brings a strong graphic effect and is associated with this bright yellow and modern, in order to create a significant contrast with the tint of cash.
We wanted a maximum of effects with a minimum of means: the whole Dacia spirit. Jean-Philippe Salar, Renault Design Center Director Bucharest.
The vehicle remained exposed to the Design Center for a week, and after receiving a very favorable reception, it is now used as a promotional tool by the communication teams in Romania.
The teams colors and materials at the service of design at Renault
Imagining, researching and creating colors and materials for the exterior and interior design of vehicles is the mission of the Renault Group's color and material teams. Spread over 6 Design Centers around the world (France, Romania, South Korea, Brazil, India, China), the teams aim to adapt the models to the expectations of customers in each market. From the creative process to the design of the designs, the teams share their daily life between meetings with suppliers and trips to factories. They work closely with engineering teams on the development of innovative concepts in both interior design (new materials, new technologies) and exterior (body colors). They closely follow emerging trends in terms of colors and materials, like eco-friendly materials, customization or warmer metals. Teams that put their passion and creativity at the service of Renault Group design, with the same ambition: to surprise, to give an innovative and lively image of the brand, thanks to the colors and materials.
