Emergency assistance, including food, medicine and blankets, is being sent to the Gant area following recent floods, according to the Ministry of the Interior and local communities.
This assistance to the Gatt region, located 250 kilometers from Ghent, Illizi, near the Libyan border, includes 2,000 food parcels totaling 77 tons, 18 tons of mineral water, quantities of medicines, 2,000 mattresses, blankets, two generators and 16 irrigation pumps.
The urgent aid comes after Prime Minister Noureddine Badawi decided last Sunday to discuss the measures to be taken following the recent floods in the state of Elizi to ensure immediate compensation for all affected citizens.
Among the decisions taken were the establishment of 400 subsidies for affected citizens by flooding, removing all buildings on the banks of the valleys and ensuring that their residents were moved to safe areas with subsidies for the construction of new housing.
The Prime Minister also decided to embark on a comprehensive study to protect the city of Ghent from the dangers of flooding with the preparation of a study on the completion of three technical facilities are bridges at the entrance to the city of Ghent, Abkhail and Aberbar.
These decisions included the re-establishment of all the institutions and structures of the national education sector at the level of all the municipalities concerned and the rehabilitation of the national road 3 link between Gantt and Al-Hawas tower. The study also included the preparation of six secondary valleys: the Evrei Tsueni Valley, Ghent area.
He called on the Prime Minister to take care of the process of cleaning and lifting the flood waste in addition to the acquisition of trucks for cleaning, pumps and generators and lift the freeze on the program of urban improvement for the old neighborhoods through the municipality of Ghent.

The Algerian Red Crescent has collected 22 tons of humanitarian aid of 2500 blankets and clothing, 350 food packages worth 8000 dj and 60000 bottles of water for the inhabitants of Gantt as well as kitchen utensils.
