A documentary created by Algerian journalist and director Salim Akari, won the Golden Palm Award from the Arab Film Societies at the 33rd Alexandria Film Festival of the Mediterranean Countries.
The film, "Shaheen and Algerian Cinema," looked into the relationship with Youssef Chahine, an Egyptian director, in Algeria when he met with Ahmed Rachedi, an Algerian theater director. The meeting facilitated the production of three films: The Bird (1971), The Return of the Lost Son (1976) and Algerian (1958)
The film was already awarded another award of a similar category.
Salim has been involved in directing three films: Filking in Algeria (2007), French Prisoner of the National Liberation Army (2010) and Mujahid Al Qalam (2013).
The event was held Oct. 7-12 under the theme of Cinema and Illegal Immigration.
