Algeria's Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Abdulkadir Bouzghi has asked the Jebel Ali to work harder toward the national milk production so the country can cut back on importing milk powders and other milk products from other countries.
According to the minister's statement, the country is challenged by the import of dairy from other countries as it puts a financial pressure on Algeria, a pressure that could be avoided if national production were to increase.
The 16 sections in the Jibli complex are going to work to achieve the requirements outlined for them to reach the needs that the country has for milk products, namely pasteurized milk. The complex produces 50 to 60 percent of the pasteurized milk in the market.
The minister also asked that more farmers be brought into the company's network to bring in more milk.
The government is hard at work to reduce the milk imports by 50 percent.
