In a recent meeting, Italian Interior Minister Masrco Minniti sat down with Libyan mayors to discuss the fight against human trafficking, with an extension of an agreement being signed between Rome and Tripoli this year.

Italy has pledged funding, training and resources to aid the Libyan government's campaign to slow the number of immigrants to Europe, which has totaled over 600,000 since 2014. Many of those individuals came from Libya.
Though migration numbers may have decreased, the concern still remains.
