The General Electricity Co. of Libya (GECOL) will take part in the completion of new power plant projects in the western and eastern Tripoli area and Misurata and Tobruk in the eastern portion of Libya.
The agreement was reached with GECOL and the Libyan Fund of Internal Investment.
The hopes are that the projects will be completed between 12 and 18 months from now and will provide more than 2,000 megawatts of energy, according to Media Bureau of the Head of the Government of National Accord and its Presidential Council Fayez Al-Serraj.
The addition of electricity of the Libyan grid is welcomed as the country has been struggling with a lack of electricity and outages for about three years.
