The Minister of Water Resource, Hocine Necib, in Algiers with officials and experts of the National Water Resources Agency (ANRH) to discuss the the water situation in Algeria.
The presentation of the minister showed that there was a satisfactory inventory and balance sheet, even though the year had suffered from a decreased amount of rain.
Both surface and underground resources were discussed and Necib pointed out that there needed to be preservation of water in the country which is arid and semi-arid.
The ANRH executives were asked to artificially recharge groundwater that was lost due to the evaporation from the sea, and will be working with agricultural services in order to create new irrigation areas that promise the presence and increase of water.
