Technology is changing the travel industry all over the world, and companies are capitalizing on the ability to change the ways that we get around our communities.
In Algeria, a firm called Erkeb is innovating with an application that will help locals to find a taxi or other ride.
The company hasn’t been around long – launch was earlier this year – but top people at Erkeb are optimistic.
The Erkeb application is available through Google Play and will help users to figure out the best way to get a ride on a particular route.
In a way, applications like Erkeb look like they're based on the ripple effect of major ridesharing giants such as Uber -- but some of these other tools are a little different, because they focus more on established transportation structure.
“We do believe that our service quality and dedication will help us reach our targets and become highly successful – Erkeb Founder Samir Mohammedi told Maghreb News Wire August 2.
As for the company's presence in Algeria, Mohammedi said it makes sense that an Algerian-made service remains close to its market and tied to communities there.
Talking about important values in business, Mohammedi mentioned the principle of efficiency, and how business has to run on a practical, workable model. Another goal, he said, is continuous evolution. Lastly, Mohammedi said, clear vision is important in figuring out the way forward for a new business.
In the future, Mohammedi said, he hopes that Erkeb keeps growing and expanding at a rapid pace. He also hopes that the company becomes a reference for the community, a handy utility for all of those travelers wanting to streamline their travel experiences.
More information on the company is available at Erkeb's website.
“Erkeb has been designed and created to provide the people of Algeria a new way to use technology and transport.” reads an English translation of the landing page. “Erkeb, which literally translates to 'Grab a Taxi', is Algeria's first ride-hailing tech application and geo-locally focused. We represent the new Algeria and the Algerian tech scene. We strive to inspire all and bolster Algeria's tech prowess one ride at a time; moving Algeria forward.”
