From Nov. 9-12 in Tangier, Morocco, the International Festival of Ibn Battuta will be taking place, bringing travelers from around the world to recognize the famous traveler.
This will be the second edition of the festival and will be held under the theme of Travelers as Ambassadors of Peace.
"The festival seeks to celebrate the memory of Ibn Battuta while promoting peace, universal values, and intercultural understanding," Aziz Benami, president of the Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta, said.
The famous traveler was known to venture to 40 countries through his lifetime and the festival will hope to bring his story to a vivid display.
"We hope to bring the adventures of Ibn Battuta to the general public and inspire modern day travelers to develop the values exhibited by the greatest traveler of pre-modern times and into becoming Ambassadors of Peace," Mohamed Dekkak, the association's honorary chairman, said.
