Attjariwafa Bank has been awarded the Best Bank in Africa in 2017 award, on behalf of the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2017.
The category which Attijariwafa won is a newly created one, and serves as a reference to the world's best financial markets since the year 1992. Attjariwafa's group also won Best Bank in Morocco and Best Bank in Senegal, which was awarded to CBAO, Senegal's subsidiary.
Attijariwafa has grown significantly this year -- in revenue, assets and geographical influence -- especially in regards to their Barclays Egypt acquisition, which will facilitate easier establishment in the Middle East and East Africa.
Attijariwafa's five-year plan, entitled Energies 2020, is seeking to improve customer service through electronic pay options, digital lending for retail account and a completely digital bank card.
CBAO has 20 percent market share for in-country loans in Senegal and comes after Morocco and Tunisia in contributions to Attijariwafa's income.
CBAO has also launched a mobile banking app, CBAO Mobile.
