The Electrical System Operator in Algeria recorded that July 11's record electrical power demands exceeded those of Aug. 1, 2016 by 330 megawatts (MW).
The recorded number on July 11 was 13,227 MW at 3:30 p.m., which was a 3 percent increase in comparison to the August prior.
In addition to the afternoon peak use, another record was set in the evening of July 11, with the max usage reaching 12,981 MW, a 5.1 percent increase from July 31, 2016.
Though peaks are somewhat expected during the warm summer months, individuals are also advised that they should use energy sparingly, as it is directly related to rising temperatures.
Individuals are advised to keep consumption down as much as possible between 1 and 4 p.m. as well as between 8 and 9 p.m.
